Go back to the time of 80’s in May at Gwangju with ‘Taxi Driver’

Gwangju Metropolitan City and Gwangju Cultural Foundation will operate ‘Taxi Driver’ event during following 2 weeks; 8.22(Tue.)~9.3(Sun.) in the midst of the film ‘Taxi Driver’ which described 5.18 Democratic Movement in 1980 has being been successful.

 

This event will operate as taxi driver will show visitors around 5.18 historic site, primary venue related by 5.18 Democratic Movement and also the places which was shown by film, ‘Taxi Driver’. Those who want to experience this event can apply through reservation by call to 062-670-7483(or 7485) by individual or by a group of people gathered by 2~4 members. This event will be operated with free charge and the courses of visit are below.

In Gwangju Metropolitan City, the photo exhibition to cherish the memory of a real person in film, Jürgen Hinzpeter who was German Journalist to release 5.18 Democratic incident to outside of world is prepared and also the resources such as record video which he took and photos which showed what happened in Gwangju at that moment and his glasses and passport and several items is exhibited in same place.

 

Furthermore, the visitors can walk with taxi driver while listening to his explanation of the story of 5.18 Democratic Uprising and can meet UNESCO world record heritage such as victims’ care record from hospital, film of black-and-white photograph and citizens’ diary which described that moment vividly at the same time.
