The Gwangju Cultural Foundation has focused on supporting creative efforts of artists as well as education for culture and the arts in addition to operating cultural welfare projects to create a sound local culture environment.
We continue to initiate policies in congruence with Gwangju’s representational culture and prepare for future cultural innovation by expanding the realm of arts and culture, supporting ‘arts’-focused media art,
and operating programs for fusion and convergence of various artistic genres.
Gwangju has unique cultural assets such as
‘Ye-hyang (city of art)’ as well as the fact that city served as the epicenter of the ‘May 18 Democratization Movement.’
We will weave these precious cultural assets into an invaluable resource while incorporating public opinions of local residents.
We will continue our efforts to connect citizens with the culture of Gwangju to invigorate and entertain the city.
