We are witnessing drastic changes in arts and culture these days.
Momentous and qualitative shifts are currently underway from the mainstream to local levels,
the limelight to situations of daily life, professional arts to community arts, and individual celebrities to community members.
We promote Cultural Democracy through various art and cultural supports, grants, and outreach programs;
also encourage the development of creative Arts
The Gwangju Cultural Foundation has focused on supporting creative efforts of artists as well as education for culture and the arts in addition to operating cultural welfare projects to create a healthy local culture environment.
We continue to initiate policies in congruence with Gwangju’s representational culture and prepare for future cultural innovation by expanding the realm of arts and culture, supporting ‘arts’-focused media art,
and operating programs for fusion and convergence of various artistic genres.
Gwangju has unique cultural assets such as
‘Ye-hyang (city of art)’ as well as the fact that city served as the epicenter of the ‘May 18 Democratization Movement.’
We will weave these precious cultural assets into an invaluable resource while incorporating public opinions of local residents.
We will continue our efforts to connect citizens with the culture of Gwangju to invigorate and entertain the city.
Gwangju Cultural Foundation was established on January in 2011 to realize creative city with culture and art. To accomplish this goal,
we try to expand creative cultural activity for citizens and opportunity for enjoying culture and art and also develop culture &art promotion policy.
Gwangju Cultural Foundation was established under the support of Gwangju Metropolitan City to realize joyful creative city
and great culture community through policy development and promotion for fostering culture & art promotion and Asia culture-centered city,
supporting creation․diffusion․activity of culture & art, education, research of culture & art, succession & development of traditional culture
and development & marketing of tourist cultural products.
