“Digital practice : 기술을 다루는 기술” 레지던시는 그 정의와 범위가 모호한 ‘미디어아트’에 대한 레지던시입니다. 참여예술가들과 기획자는 한 달동안 ‘미디어아트’의 역사, 정의, 시각, 그리고 본인들의 작업이 ‘미디어아트’에서 어떤 위치인지를 토의하고, 작품을 제작합니다. ‘뉴미디어’에 대한 개념 이야기, 그리고 그 역사를 이야기하고, 머릿속에만 존재하던 기술을 가시화시켜, 구현하는 것 까지가 이 레지던시의 목적입니다. 이 레지던시에 참여한 작가들은 보다 심층적으로 그리고 진지하게 ‘미디어아티스트’로서 고민하고, 기술과 예술의 새로운 동시대적 공존방법을 찾고 있습니다. “불멸한 혹은 한시적인 디지털 이미지(김현석)”, “젠더성을 가지면서 또 탈피하고 자 하는 기계 오브제와 그 운동의 법칙(전유진)”, “음악과 비음악 사이의 간극에서 음악을 바라보는 사운드 아트(최하람)” ,”장르적, 매체적인 경계를 뛰어넘어 스스로를 재정립하는 에니메이션(함준서)”에 대한 새로운 접근을 전시에서 보실 수 있습니다.
“Digital practice” residency is about “media art” which has various definitions and scopes. Participating artists and curators discuss the history, definition, perspective, and their positions in media art, and create works. The purpose of the residency is to talk about the idea of ‘new media’ and history of it, and to visualize the technology from our heads as well as presenting it as an art work. Artists here dive deep into the subject, think seriously as ‘media artists’, and look for a new way to tangle tech and art. A new approach to “immortal or temporary digital images (Hyunsuk Kim),” “gendered machine objet trying to break from the gender and its law of movement(Youjin Jeon),” “sound art seeing music from its border with non-music(Haram Choi),” and “animation reestablishing itself beyond a specific genre and media(Junseo Hahm)” will be shown at the exhibition.

"극적으로 바림을 방문하는 법 How to visit barim dramatically"
이 인터랙티브 웹은 바림 건물 입구에 있는 cctv를 셀프해킹하여 만든 소리 프로젝트로, cctv와 디지털 세계 안에 바림을 의식적으로 위치시킵니다. 사람, 동물, 움직이는 물체, 공기, 빛 등 화면 안에 생기는 움직임이나 변화를 포착하여 소리로 변형시킵니다. 바림을 방문하는 모든 사람들은 소리를 생성해 냅니다. 소리는 때때로 바뀔 수 있으며, 환경에 따라 다소 끊김이 있을 수 있습니다. 바림에 들어오는 사람들을 관찰하며, 무언가가 혹은 누군가가 움직이는 한 계속 소리를 감상할 수 있습니다. This interactive web is a sound project in which we self-hack the surveillance camera on Barim’s 1st floor, and it consciously locates Barim inside the camera and digital world. Person, people, animal, moving object, air, light, or any kind of movement of changes are captured and transformed into sound. Every person who visit Barim will generate sound. Sound can be redesigned and we expect minor disconnection due to environment. One can observe people who visit Barim, and hear sound as far as something or someone is moving.
